TNBronzeback, I noticed you have the jigging Rapalas on all three species, I'm not familiar with this lure, what kind of bait is this??, can you or any body else please post a pic of it, how do you work this lure??, I'm still putting my list togheter, tough to decide with so many good stuff out there!!

I attached the Jigging Rapal as well as thier new-er jigging rapala shad.
used vertically, it has a swiming/swinging motion when jigged instead of the up-down-up-down with a typical jig. you can snap off a minnow head and put it on the treble hook, or use an Anise Ball (which is how i use it) to add color and scent, or nothing at all on it. the harder/higher you jig it, the more motion it gets.
they come in a wide range of sizes, but they are kinda pricy.
they can be super deadly with just a slight breeze, just enough to get the boat drifting and jigging these things over suspended fish...HAMMER! they are like little rockets so they sink fast with no tension and get right in thier face and the swimming/swinging action gives the impression they are trying to swim away, and on the fall, it smacks em right in the face!
Cats have proven to enjoy the action of these as well as i caught plenty of them this summer on these.
They are OK in river as long as you match the size to the current and i would recommend a swivel to prevent line twist with the more aggresive jigging motion....dont be bashful...give it some good snaps of the wrist and make the bait work for ya.

Stopped paying 7$ a dozen for shiners every day out fishing. Instead, I now catch bluegill on trout magnets and that's good enough for hybrids/stripers and catfish. Also get crappie on trout magnets.

Thanks for the info, I think I need to get me a few of those as I'm thinking to try Center Hill for some Walleyes this spring, what are those anise balls and where do you get them??, I remember a bait attractant I tried once long time ago that smelled just like anise and man I had a bunch of bass swarming my bait almost at my feet lunging at a lure bigger than most of them!

No problem! and yes, walleyes love em!
The anise balls are just an artificial salmon egg with the anise scent. They are made of soft plastic/rubber. Some are more durable than others. I bought mine from various tackle shops in michigan, but im pretty sure Cabelas carries them. If not, you can do a google search for anise artificial salmon eggs. I attached a pic of a brand ive used in the past.
