Look like creek chubs (Semotilus atromaculatus) to me as stonerollers (Campostoma anomalum) have a more underslung mouth and blunt nose. I will caveat this by saying that the some of the other diagnostic keys are not clear enough in the pictures (fin ray counts) or need to be checked by hand.

That said both are found in streams around here and do look quite similar.

Went down today for a bit testing some prototypes out. Result is they will work as hoped and are ready for my place n time to use them. Hung something nice on the first few casts using the chubs. It fell to the bottom, started drifting then had a thud and steady heavy pull to it. Probably a drum but never got it close to the bank. Other than that nothing but it really wasn't totally a fishing trip.

Nice day out though. Had some guys come by and ask about the fishing. Were any of you FishingTN guys by chance?

Might've been a giant smallie or big walleye, they hang around there this time of year...but I'd go with drum, easier to handle the fact that you forgot to set the hook !

Stopped by just at sunset and not a sole there the water is still rolling heavy.

Chris, don't rule out some big ol' catfish or striper. I've hung into fish there that almost spooled my 50 and 65 lb braid. I've had to grab the spool and clamp down to make them pull out the hook or straighten out the hook.

It was either that or lose $20.00 worth of braided line.

The gulls were at dam working on bait and it look like they had some gens on line and some gates open to lower the lake at OH. One of the guys that was there said it was the right time for the sauger to be there so I'm going to try to get some hardy minnows in the morning and go back on the bank and fish on Friday. So stop by OH dam and fish and say hi..............woody

I headed over there this morning on the Hendersonville side. I got there around 6:30 and fished until 10:00. I fished from the bank and tried a variety of lures. My only catch for the morning was a nice, fat 14" white bass. I caught it on 4" fluro. green twister tail. I had other pecks at it. I suspect that if I had a smaller twister tail in same color, I would have caught more. It was the only color I had any hits on. I only saw one other soul down there and I didn't see him catch anything either. Even though it was 18 degrees this morning, I felt quite comfy since there was little wind coming down there.

Just drove by there around 12:15. All the gates were open, and the water was rough. Didn't see anyone fishing from the bank. There was one boat anchored just down from the lock wall.

Hope you have some luck Woody. I know I have said this before but I fully intend on taking you up on that open seat at some point. Staying home with kids (one in school and one part time) makes it tough to set things in stone but one day I will be glad to join you. Appreciate the offer.

I went there around 11 am and the water was moving fast and I didn't see anyone so I went to the park and fish. I fish at the pier for about an hour and had three take downs and miss them all using minnows and a float. Next week I will be back out but on my boat...............woody

You can take trout mags around that pier on pretty much all sides to catch a lot of bluegill. That is what I do to get my cut bait when I catfish off the pier.
