As said by others in this thread, there aren't any issues with eating fish out of the Cumberland. It "looks" yucky because the river tends to have a lot of silt, algae, and debris, but that doesn't make the fish hazardous to eat.

The contaminants you have to worry about, like mercury and heavy metals, PCBs, dioxins, etc, are usually invisible, and you can have fish from crystal-clear water that are more contaminated than anything from the Cumberland.

Well... to each his own my friend! I like the taste of both of them and so does my wife. Every lake should have the rules Bedford Lake has.

I think the only water in TN we really have to worry about is anything near Watts Bar nuclear facility. I'd prefer my bass without a side order of radiation please

May be you should cook-em like my daddy said to cook carp. You go down to the stable and get a bucket of horse dung and you pack the carp in the dung then cook it till the dung is hard. Then pull it out of the oven chip off the dung and throw away the carp and eat the dung. Now doesn't that sound better? Woody

three eyed Crappie well done please!!!!, this reminds me of a deer hunt I went a few years ago to the Oak Ridge WMA, man you will see all kind of monitoring hoses and devices coming out of the milky white creeks, think of it, the deer I seen on this place were waay bigger than the ones I 've seen on Presidents Island in Memphis and these resamble Canadian deer!!! yikes!!
