I have never caught a rockfish or a hybrid, but I have caught a lot of white bass before. Do you use trout magnets for trout? We were going to a lot of winter trout stockings last year.

The trout Old Sailor catches feed on the stockers we catch during winter stockings

Old sailor fishes for anything twice as big as what the rest of us catch.

No trout magnets for me. I'm no good with ultralight gear. The guys speaking highly of me are experts in that field. I would love to see you get your first rockfish . Be happening soon. Whatever method you choose is great. Just go fishing and don't forget to enjoy your surroundings ; when you get older you will find that problems will drift down the river from you when you are fishing.

Warm regards

Amen to your last post old sailor....on all counts. I'm not a fan of ultralight. Light action is about as low as I care to go.

And being out on the water will make a person forget what may be bothering them or just what was on their mind before they started fishing. Drifting down a river, trolling across a lake, casting a bobber to a brushpile, casting a fluke into the boils......it's all therapy.

Unless you are striper fishing with MNfisher, then it's just net duty!

Sam Tate who's a Nashville song writer wrote this song for Project Healing Waters (a volunteer rehab program for veterans). Rodney Atkins eventually recorded it. The song speaks to this quite well.

Without your boat handling skills, those fish would have never been caught! CAN'T WAIT FOR STRIPER SEASON!
