Caution, they are hard to get in a livewell.

Interesting. Last time I used one of those for bait they were actually eating the trout I was after

Not familiar with the yellow bellies. Seriously, there used to be kids around Center Hill who would catch spring lizards and sell them to fishermen. Believe me, anything that swims in Center Hill (maybe even the jet skiiers) will eat spring lizards.
Try to find a kid to wade around in a creek and catch spring lizards today.
Guess I've just betrayed my age.

Know what you mean. I used to sell them for a dollar a dozen way back when. Doll fly tipped with a spring lizard was a big time smallie bait back then.

My girls (2.5 & 5) hunt them in the creeks every year. We try to explore outside at least a couple times a week weather permiting. About the only things the girls won't handle is a helgrammite. But then again, those and the fully changed dobson fly can be pretty freaky to a kid.
