I have a reel that needs new line is why I am asking and a 7.6 hvy rod that's collecting dust.

Thanks.
The reason why I use the hvy line is due to the depth of the lure and the work that you have to do to reel in from deep water, thus the hvy action rod. You will feel like you are fighting a monster from just reeling in the lure at that depth.

Do they thump or does it just feel different after a bite at that depth/distance?

It would be neat to feel it hit bottom that deep.

It is kind of a sluggish hit but you will feel the resistance when they strike!

I have used it several times on OH with good and sometimes great success!

Where are you going? I will be in FL the 11th thru the 18th or 19th.

I'd like to. This month's been busy with doctor stuff, family vacation and daughter's birthday once we get back. Definititely plan on fishing some once that's all over.

I will be going to Panacea, it is on the gulf coast about 40 miles south of Tallahassee. I go down there twice per year, it is not a tourist place at all just a sleepy little fishing town! We get a charter one day and then surf fish on other days. My wife like the charter fishing and lays on the beach while I surf fish. We are usually the only people on the beach that is how secluded it is...Perfect! There is also a pier there at Mashes Sands beach and park that I fish from. I take my cast net and collect finger mullet for bait. Caught a 80 pound bull shark there last year. Lots of Red's, Speck trout, flounder and Spanish mac that all can be caught from the beach or the pier. There is allot of grass marsh out there and I usually see several yakers out in the flats tearing the reds up.

That sounds fun.

My aunt is letting us stay in their house in Deltona next to one of Lake Butler Chain lakes. We'll be back n forth between there and Dayton though.
