I know it as a popping cork rig. The idea in most cases, is to give the rod tip quick snaps to make a good popping noise, (and a bead or 2 to rattle) fish hear it, then, in most cases, 1'-2' below the cork is your jig that the fish focuses on then hits.leader length and # test is all dictated by species and conditions. ive heard rumor :-) they use this or something very similar for hybrids. Its a 2 prong method. Popping cork for your "topwater" approach then your bait of choice just below that. Fluke, jig, any number of light/weightless minnow mimickers.

Certain time of year??? Or all year?? I've had 0 success with stripes. And very little with hybrids, but was not targeting them when I have caught them

Im no striper expert, but in my experience, when stripers are hot below old hickory is when the flood gates are open. There were guys throwing shad from the bank at cordell sunday but i didnt see any fish caught.....i wanst particuarly watch for long though.

I'm not fishing below the dam if the gates are open!!! My boat don't like it with more than 2gens rolling. I can sit to the side and fish, but gets sketchy in current.
