Went out Friday from 930-130 in drakes creek and a few areas down that way. We only caught 4 and 2 were keepers. Water is to clear for old hickory I think it hurts fishing in the grass. Fish were caught on spinnerbaits in the grass and squarebills.

Call me crazy but I think the majority of the spawn is over. It's like it happened so fast. I fished a tournament yesterday and we caught around 15 keepers and a lot of short fish. Our keepers came of if steeper rock creek channel banks and they all looked skinny. I'm gonna start looking at ledges this week as I have a hunch I just might find some fish grouping up already. Anybody else have this feeling?

I'll call you crazy!!! Lol. I'm not convinced yet that the spawn is over. But if I don't see any bedding fish this weekend or next week then I'll agree with you. I'm stumped because as I have said before, I haven't seen the first bed, or bloody tail. Last year it happened the first of May. So we'll see what happens. I'm hoping I'm right cause I'd hate to miss the spawn, my favorite time of the year. But, with that being said, I did catch a nice fish March 25th that was crack head skinny but should of been upwards of 6lbs. See pic below she choked a jerkbait too.

I hope your right. I have only noticed 2 bloody tails and I caught both of those fish over a week ago. It's just funky right now. I fished a tourney Sunday and only 5 of the 19 boats had a limit. I thought we were gonna finish somewhere in the middle of the pack with 11.5 lbs and we were 4th. It should be easy for everyone to catch a limit right now. I'm sure everyone was beating the grass beds and fishing backs of creeks and pockets. I've fished a lot the last couple weeks and the fish are not stacked in those places as of Sunday. The only time I've caught the fish good around grass was about 3 weeks ago when the water was high

It's been a couple of weeks since I've caught some nice bass, and it's been discouraging to me. So I took this weekend off and did some crappie fishing. Glad that panned out!! Lol. I looked at the lunar fishing chart for the month of April in the bassmaster magazine and from what it was saying the best fishing of the month was the first week. The rest of the month was supposed to be mediocre at best. Now, I don't put much stock in that, I do pay attention to the weather and moon phases which can usually give me an idea on how the fishing is going to be. But, that little lunar calendar has been pretty accurate this month.

Speaking of moon phase, we just had a full moon Thursday, which should have had some positive effect on the fish. I did notice that they were more active, but not like I thought they should have been. The surface temp is right, the full moon has passed, fish should be on bed right now. Instead they are being found in 8-10FOW. Which to me is deep for this time of year. I need to add this, the water coming out of the dam as of yesterday I believe, was only 63,which does make it a little cooler than what bass like to spawn in.

As you can see, I'm confused, lost, and a little upset that I don't have a clue as to why I can't get the bass to cooperate with me right now. And I'm not the only one which makes it a little less disheartening!!

Bass are wearing it out on Priest. This past weekend was for sure a good one, especially for topwater.

Two completely different bodies of water. The first and last time I was on priest with my boat, I thought it was gonna break in half, sink or me and deezltek die. I don't do priest anymore. I'm glad to hear someone can catch them though.

This last full moon phase seemed to jump start the shad spawn which typically follows bass. Based on that I would say bass should be done or winding down. As with any body of water there won't be all up then all down but instead there will be multiple waves throughout the lake.

I'd say they are for the most part though it's done.

I did see a fish that seemed to be on bed today. Only got out for a cpl hours and had 4 keepers with one going 3lb 14 oz. I couldn't see the bed but I kept spooking the fish with my bait and it would come right back every time. Never caught it though. It wasn't very big so after a cpl minutes I moved on

Old hick could use a little color. It's super clear for old hickory. I feel like a few fish have spawned but the majority of them haven't. That's what I'm hoping anyways. Cause if I missed the spawn, I might just cry!!😢😭

I think you missed it. The way the weather has been all spring the water temps jumped up early this year and I think most moved up to spawn weeks ago. You will get waves of fish so I am sure there are still fish spawning. With the water temps I saw Sunday and where I caught my crappie I'm pretty sure that spawn is over too.

I have been catching bluegill / shellcrackers on bed for 2 weeks.

The rain will help more than hurt OH. It needs some pretty bad in my opinion.
