They have been stacked in the Laguardo cove every morning like firewood.

I talked to one guy that was going to run above the 231 bridge. That's a haul. Plus the gas that the 250 on the back of that ranger is going to use.

Several years ago my wife got me a guided trip with a bass angler Who at the time was sponsored by bass pro and maybe still is. I seen him pull three 4 to 5 pounders out in five minutes close to 231 Bridge with a Jig about 15 to 20 feet of water. Hmmm Who knows might be the same guy you're talking about.

Brandon Palaniuk ran 100 miles one way to the the 100 back on Ontario for his win in the Elite event. He was able to put almost 89 lbs of smallies on the scale.

Gas is secondary with some of those guys...something that just gets in the way of fishing.

Kevin Wirth who won I believe and several others made that same run back when the Elites were out of Sauders Ferry Park a few years back.

Yeah, the fuel is not on there mind. The newer motors get much better fuel efficiency than older ones. Mine is a 96 and it sucks gas but my friends dad is a 2004 and it's amazing the difference in the motors. I just finished Ikes book and he talked about making runs that took a couple hours in the delta.

The day one leader had a heck of a bag for this time of year. Caught them shallow cranking a square bill in and around any wood or brushpiles he could find. There were several weighed in excess of 5lbs. All of the top 5 guys were doing the same thing. The leader is from Cookeville and said he fishes OHL a lot. Just one more reason to stay shallow for largemouth in the cold months. Today's weigh in should be interesting.

Good luck to all the ABA'ers this weekend. I'm interseted in the bags that are going to be pulled out. I hope everyone is safe on the water, and good times are had by all.

I couldn't imagine making a run over 8 miles and back. I'd be so outta breath, forearms, shoulders, and back would be killing me by the time I got back.

Thumbs up Old Hickory Lake fishing report 11/8/2013

I went out at sun rise and the water temp was 57.6 but the bass that I found were in 8' to 9' of water. I started off casting a small three arm umbrella w/three 2" power shad and retrieving it slow to med speed because the bass were just off the bottom. I was fishing a bar between two coves that was in front of a stone wall and about a 1/2 mile from the dam on lock 3 side. I caught one small bass on the umbrella around 7 AM another on the #5 shad rap trolling the same depth and the same area. So till the next time out good luck and GOD BLESS............Woody
