If I saw a boat approaching within a couple hundred yards I flashed them and if he was coming toward me I turned them on.
Anyone would have been a fool to get too close because i was usually not in an area that one should have been running with any speed.
I understand this to a degree, but there was pretty good visibility last night and I would look in the direction of a fishing spot and not see any lights so I would make a run over there and then have someone turn their lights on. If they just had them on to begin with then I wouldn't have wasted my time running over there. This happened several times last night and there really isn't any excuse and it's dangerous
