I have caught them there into July in past years also.....but this ain't gone be one of those years. Rainbows will go off feeding when water gets 67-68 degrees....become stressed at 68-69....stop growing at 75 degrees....and 77 degrees is the upper limit they can survive. I have measured the temps below dam in late July in the 80's. As for trout holding over at Normandy...that's a myth. There may be an occasional one caught that finds a deep cold water spot somewhere but it is rare. Many people think Normandy holds trout over because they...or someone they know...catches a 18-21 inch rainbow. They think that fish has grown up in there. They don't realize that every stocking truck puts a few trophy fish in at each stocking. Here is a good article from a TWRA cold water biologist.
