I arrived in Louisiana with my buddy Craig around 1 AM Tuesday night. We are fishing the AFWC in Delacroix on saturday, but we have been fishing for fun the first 2 days so far.
Yesterday we had absolutely no wind and the marsh was like glass. It was incredible, we were chasing tailing redfish in 6-10" of water. I caught fish that had their backs up to 2 inches out of the water! Day 1 tally between 3 guys, fishing 7:00-12. 34 redfish, 2 speckled trout, and 4 largemouth.
Day 2, today, we were greeted with 15-25 mph winds, it took a while to get them patterned, but we ended up catching 16 reds, 2 trout and a handful of bass between 2 guys in 5 hrs fishing.
Most reds have been averaging 25-27". We had a handful between 27-29".
Tomorrow we need to target different areas and saturday they are calling for a 25 mph NE wind, and it has been SE. It will be interesting tourney day since it will involve possibly as much as 15-20 miles of paddling to hit the checkpoints. Can't wait though!
