Cool May have problems using a Magnet .. <'TK><

Bummmmmmmer !!! Everything will depend on what the keys are made of ... Quality keys, like Upper end lock set keys for your home (kwickset, etc) Are made of non ferrous material (Magnets won't pick them up) .. Usually Plated brass , Master lock keys, the good ones also non ferrous (won't rust), Auto keys Stainless also non Ferrous and dog Tags are Stainless ... 90% of your keys are either Stainless or plated Brass ...

For a project after reading this loss ... I checked out my Key ring just to see what was ferrous and non ferrous ... Now I have a wad of keys ... three key rings put together to be exact ...My findings ...

one truck entry fob Plastic..
one house alarm fob Plastic..
one dog tag stainless non magnetic..
GM Truck key Stainless Non Magnetic , Most auto keys are ..
two entry lock keys plated brass non magnetic ..
nine other Master lock, and other locks ... All Non Magnetic ..
two cheap master lock keys ... Ferrous steel .. Magnetic ..
three key snap rings about the size of a quarter .. Mildly Magnetic .. a ferrous/stainless alloy .. It won't rust but does have magnetic qualities ...

I have a pretty stout magnet ... There was not enough Ferrous material for the mag to pick up the keys ..

Now everything depends on what is on your key ring .... Hope this helps ... <'TK><
