I'm no fan of the Smart Car....and as you all say the MPG is not that great. People used to laugh when they would see me in a Nissan Versa with a kayak trailer in tow but I saved a lot of money with that vehicle. It just died at 250,000 miles....an agonizing death....LOL. If you have never been in a vehicle equipped with a CVT transmission and had it go into fail safe mode it is quite an experience. But it served me well for fishing all over the place. Wanted to buy the Nissan Frontier to replace it but knowing the miles I go to fish I had to stay with something that gets good MPG. So I got a new Ford Escape with the 2 liter turbo. Can tow up to 3500 pounds and used it to travel to Nickajack last week and got close to 30 MPG. So I'm good to go for another few years.
