The 4 year old daughter loved it. People tend to follow the crowd in things like this, saying they are a trash fish, when in reality, they have never eaten one.
In canada the smallmouth bass is akin to a carp in terms of the locals wanting to catch them. All they are good for up there is shore lunch, yet here in tn they are revered as gods.
To me, the smallmouth are tablefare!
So i say eat one and make up your own decisions on whether you like them or not.
We also don't like catfish so, to each their own!
