What I've found with the shad kills is that if you get there when the generators have been running for a while then yea the fish are just hanging out sucking down dying shad and you won't fool them. I specifically waited until 4pm to head back over there because that's when the 2nd generator came on and I figured it would push a new wave of shad through and thus start the frenzy again. It worked. Like I said I got a bunch of hits on the spoon but couldn't set the hook. Doing that in a kayak is something I need to get used to!
The shad were small, all 1-3 inches I'd say.
Travis, I might try it again this Saturday. Either stay in the pond area of if we get a generation break do a float. You're welcome to join if you get a chance!
