Default Furlough Fishing on the Cumberland (Clarksville Area 2 Oct)

Since the government is shut down, and I'm a federal employee, I am now on furlough, meaning I stay home with no pay until this mess gets sorted out. Well, Mr. President and crew, hand me lemons and I'll make lemonade...so of course I went fishing this morning

It was a gorgeous day out this morning; cloudy, comfortable temps, no wind, and best of all, it was only me, myself and I on the water. Matter of fact, when I got back to the ramp at 11:30, mine was the only vehicle with a trailer in the parking lot.

I started out catching both LM and spotted bass, on Senkos and an Ultra Vibe Speed Craw. I had another pic of a decent bass but it came out so blurry I couldn’t post it. After catching some bass, I switched tactics and started going for bluegill with my ultralight…unfortunately, all I was catching were the small ones so I’m guessing the bigger ones are still down deep. Then I ran back to the marina and fished for bluegill there using a 1/16 oz white rooster tail and I hooked into a 4-5 pound drum which I fought for what seemed like an eternity. I have the drag set pretty loose just in case I hook into something big because I only have 2-pound line on there. I managed to get that drum all the way to the boat but when I went to lip it so I could get my lure back, it turned and broke the line…oh well. That sure was fun though.
