i dont have a lot of TN creek and river fishing experience, but this definitely held true in GA fishing for Shoal Bass when i was fishing larger waters, like the Hooch or Oc. i have a 6 1/2" Rip Roller that caught a great many shoalies.

When i was fishing smaller waters a larger size pop-r (i could throw it farther) or a sexy dawg jr were my go to topwater baits.
