I have 16 inches doubled...so total 32 inches of the heaviest chain Lowes sells on my kayak. It does OK but will not hold me still. It does not take much of a wind to pull me. Now I am a big fellow....and when I owned several bass boats I found out the heavier boat needed a bigger anchor. I can't really do anymore chain...no room in the handle opening for anything bigger....and I have modified the handle. But I don't really want to go to a fluke anchor....too much chance of getting it hung up and when you cut the line there goes the 30 plus bucks for the 26 foot Flexi dog leash. So I guess I live with a slow drift.
