Where do you guys put in at?
Is there a ramp or park nearby?
Maybe I've had bad luck, but when I go to Old Hickory if I try to leave a cove I feel like the bass boats are mad that I attempted.
Last saturday I fished the little cove on the old hickory side of the dam. As soon as I left the cove to fish the fallen timber outside of it, some moron in a bassboat came blowing by full throttle not 20 feet away from me. I know they seen me cause they were waving at laughing at their shenanigans. Then they set the boat down on a dime which made a huge wave. I guess to not disturb the no wake zone. Too late by that time. I managed to stay upright, but not wanting to risk another I moved back to the cove. I caught three decent bass in there so it wasn't so bad.
Earlier this summer I had a similar incident on the other side of the lake.
This is my first year fishing out of a kayak so maybe I'm being over cautious.

There ia a boat ramp right across the SP it is called Coles ferry, take I40 east to Hwy 109 North toward Gallatin, turn right onto Academy ( Home run market will be on the left on 109) Academy turns into Coles Ferry...You will see the sign on your left for boat ramp...It is just a ramp no boat dock. Head down River about 1000 yards and the Canal to the steam plant will be on your right!
