Fishing Locations... Maps, Almanacs?
Greetings everyone....
I'm fairly new to the area and trying to figure out where the fishing locations are in relation to where I live. I'm talking about the places that are mentioned on this site. Is there a map, reference, or almanac that would make it easy to find places that interest me? I've tried the internet for this and have had mixed results. I've tried TWRA references but they have not given a big enough picture of what part of the state they are talking about. Maybe I just need a map of the whole state, but is there anything better than that? For example, I'd like to find places such as The Caney, VFW Lake, Lamar Hill, etc, and have a general idea where these place are. Better yet with street or highway names/numbers. I'm not asking anyone for directions to these particular places. Just looking for an easier way to find out for myself. Appreciate any help.... Dennis |

Try Navionics.com, good map and provides some details/names of coves/ areas of individual lakes
|
You will need two things then. A good road map source plus a lake map/map book.
A gazetteer road atlas will aid in directions as well as finding hidden gems. The walmart book is good and i have one but use it to mark general things after i found them not really to find them. |
The book I was talking about is called the Sportsmans connection middle Tennessee fishing map guide..................WOODY

Thank You
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The references you mention should help a lot.

Like said the Sportsmans Connection, Gazetteer, Navionics, Google Earth, and Google Maps, knowing and learning how fish relate to structure, and different parts of a river, lake or creek. It's all about time on the water.

Look at Google Earth
Aerial photography is usually (but not always) taken during fall when there are clear skies and less foliage to obscure things. Reservoirs are down at least a little so you can see shallow cover that is submerged at summer pool. If the water is clear enough, you can even see shallow humps.
