What is your opinion on rod/real/line combination and how do you fish it?

Spinning rod, spinning reel and 10lb braid to fluoro leader.

There's really not a wrong way to fish them but a series of quick jerks followed by short pause is a good starting point. Think about how a small baitfish looks trying to get away.

I normally fish 8 or 10 pound mono on a spinning reel. I use 3/0 wide gap hooks. I jerk it and twitch it eractically. I like to fish it when they are schooling. Keep in mind that I am bass fishing though.

This is my exact setup also. I also like it on a 1/4-1/2 oz jig when fishing deeper or in strong current.

40lb braid, 5/8oz-1oz jig head with a 4/0 hook (my preferred method)

But it depends on what kind of Fluke (Super Fluke Jr., Tiny Fluke, Mag Fluke, Fluke, Super Flukes, and Swimmin Flukes)

I use the Tiny Flukes, and Fluke on a Scrounger head a lot

The Mag Flukes I'll Carolina Rig, or rig weightless on a 5/0 or 6/0 long shank worm hook

Belly weighted EWG hooks for the Flukes and Super Flukes

20/6 braid on spinning rod (to skip under trees). I like salty flukes (Case and others) that sink better than all plastic. I very the sink speed by hook size (mostly 3/0 to 5/0 but at times have gone to up to 7/0). The z-bend/skipgap EWG hooks hold the plastic better than a regular ewg.

I mainly fish them on 1/4oz lead heads, but i need to use a swivel at some point on the line. i find they have a tendancy to cause some line twist on the cast...maybe im not hooking them right down the center line or something, but they twirl like a helicopter on the cast alot of tiimes, and also when im vertical jigging them thru schools of fish, ive found they can casue some twist.

12lb flouro on a baitcaster with a 6 ft rod and a weighted 3/0 or 4/0 hook depending on bait size

I vary my retrieve... short jerks then pause, or swim it lazily (or quickly), bring it up high and then let it drop...
I go with the one which produces the first fish, usually :)
