Should have known better
Should have known better than to go fish Normandy, I've never been able to pinpoint the fish on this lake.About the only thing i can catch here are catfish and carp, although nothing wrong with that, I'd like to have some crappie fillets in the freezer. But oh well,Only caught 3 spots today, kind of wished I'd have went somewhere else.Just got back from fishing in Florida and was worried that I might actually miss the crappie bite, apparently not, lol.Should have just stayed in the salty water, atleast I can catch fish there.I'm determined to figure this lake out, even if I have to pay someone to show me, lol.Well, now to the yard work.

A few of us are going there in the morning to try for crappie. I'll post a report and let you know if we get skunked or not.

Me and another guide took our friends out fishing today at Normandy.
SKUNK!~! Bill caught three crappie from 6 AM-2PM. My boat fished from 7:30-11-30 and got nuttin. Marked a lot of fish in brushpiles, treetops, etc but couldn't entice one into bitin. |
Thanks for the update, I'm glad it wasn't just me then, lol.I saw alot of them also and couldn't get a single one to open its mouth.Depending on the weather this week I may try it again saturday, hopefully they'll be hungry by then, hahaha.

I heard it has been tough, last weekend I caught one lone bluegill in 6 hrs battling the wind, tried TM, CM, and an assortments of other baits and minners with no luck
hey Merv, did you fish any of the standing timber on the two creeks??, they should be getting close to move shallow on rocks and brush, should be any day now! |
We went way up in Bobo creek and tried the timber there, then came out and went all the way up another creek down lake, don't remember the name of it. Tried fishing standing timber, downed trees, brushpiles, rip rap, gravel flats, bluff walls, boulders and water from 6 inches to 35 ft deep.
there is not a method known to catch crappie that we didn't try. |

You guys needs to go up further in the lake... past Sugarcamp around mile marker 7.
|
Unless I have to work or the weather is bad I'm going to try it one more time.I'm not leaving until I either catch some or totally admit defeat, and if it kicks my butt this time, I'll just fish JPP and OH, lol.

TS, gonna do my best without being able to show you on a map....u can see this stuff on Google maps/Earth. Left side, from the rip rap at Mount View Rd. Bridge (called Fire Lake Bridge locally) around to Sugarcamp Bottoms (see lake map) and both sides between mile markers 6 and 7. (On map this is down to nearly Bates Spring). There's some docks (right side) and plenty of timber. Depth is still 25-40 ft. Up to mile 7 then it's probably wise to follow the channel. BTW when talking mile markers...These are actual physical signs on the bank. Trying to give an explanation best I can...probably a poor job with out showing u on a map, sorry.
