This may help you on lure selections. It's on my bucket list this year.

Pick a creek, they're ALL good. A shad rap, a worm, a jig and a frog are all the baits you need on Ky lake.

And like any lake, the weather before and on the day you fish can and will change everything. It's not a magical lake. Some days are good and some are tough.

I was there last weekend fishing the Turkey and Richland creek areas. We caught yellow bass, white bass, catfish, largemouth and smallmouth. We threw plastics, crankbaits, spinner baits and jerkbaits. Fish everything slow. The catfish were both caught on plastic worm and of all things, lipless crankbait. Be sure you have some chartreuse in your crank and spinner baits. The buck bass were all in tight and we found bigger ones a bit deeper. Just stay in the creeks and don't spend too much time fishing the deeper ledges off the channel. The lake is almost at summer pool so these fish are thinking of how they can get to the backs of creeks. Watch your depth finder in the creeks!! I should mention that we had a 20lb silver carp/asian carp join us in the boat while idling through Turkey creek. Blood and slime all over the boat. He jumped right over my shoulder and landed behind me easily clearing the side of the boat. Glad I was only creeping with the big motor and not on full plane. I didn't know they had made it here yet but since telling this story, I have been informed they are very much here. Good luck.
