Crappie Monday 3/31

That will be the day I learn to catch them.I have only ever caught 5-6 in my fishing carrer. If any of you know how to do it and want to go and teach me i'm open. If you want me to go with you i'm open. ( I'll pay for gas ). Can't do Kayak because my new one is not in yet. I have a 17' Basstracker.
Thanks
Joey

What lake do you like to fish? I wouldn't beat yourself up to much, I fish pretty regular and can count on one hand the number of times I have limited out. There are days I struggle to get enough for a meal for the wife and I. I would be glad to go out with you (in my or your boat) and show you some techniques that have worked for me over the years. PM me.

Ray

Joey, it is not that difficult to catch crappie. Otherwise Merv could not show pictures of his catches. ;)

Yep what lake do you fish?

Joey, if you want photos of crappie to show off on this forum, do like I do.

Ask everyone coming to the dock if they have any crappie. If they have a stringer of 15-30, give them $20.00 to let you take a picture with their fish.

Works every time for me!

Don't feel bad. I mainly fish the Cumberland river here locally and have yet to catch a keeper crappie. Granted, 99% of the time I fish for bass but the times I have fished for crappie, I've had no luck with live minnows (I did catch a skipjack on them), TMs or CMs. I tell locals this and they look at me like I grew a 3rd eye LOL

Thats funny ya say that, every winter, about sauger time below old hickory dam, i fish for crappies from the bank and do pretty well either drifting slip bobbers in the current down the bank, or 1/8oz jigs and Mr. Twisters just flicking it thru the current seams.
After that bite is done (im guessing when they leave to spawn in other locations) i dont have a clue where they would go. maybe pile into the few creeks/inlets down river from the dam i suppose. Then back into the river to disappear till winter again.

Next time I go out, I have a plan. There is a large shallow flat (6-10 FOW) near shore surrounded by deep water and I'm going to anchor somewhere on that flat and give it a shot with TMs, CMs and some white curly tail grubs I recently picked up. I'll try shallow and deep to see if I can finally catch one or two.
