Steam Plant 12/1
Went out to GSP for a few hours with my wife's nephew. He had only caught a couple fish in his total fishing lifetime so we kind of blew that up yesterday.
Species caught were: tilapia, white bass, crappie, largemouth, striper, bluegill and sauger. Biggest was a shade over 18" sauger and a 1.5 lb white bass. Ended up taking them home in addition to 30 tilapia for some experimental cooking. Some are smaller but shouldn't be a problem whole wrapped in bacon. We were just trying to do our part in helping the TWRA rid these pests. :D http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc088116d.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd8ed5765.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf3d3b0ba.jpg |

The canal is closed off with a barrier going all the way across the mouth and warning buoys out further in front of it. They will shoot on site Jimmy. I wouldn't risk it if I were you. :D |
MAN, that is a nice haul! Got you some good eats not to mention the fun you had catching them. Great day!

Wow, nice catches there, Travis! Tilapia is some of my favorite fish.

Great looking bunch of fish Travis! Congrats.

They fight kind of like a bluegill and white bass mix. Some you get that don't do anything but most have a good pull even small ones. I should send Jeff the pic. All the tilapia were caught on either a white trout mag or a pink trout mag. |

If they are blue tilapia (which it seems to me) from my understanding can live in waters no colder than 45 degrees. That leaves open a big amount of water. |
Nice Travis. We took home 5-6 Tilapia (enough for a meal for the both of us) from a trip there last year. They were delicious. I do not like store bought Tiliapia, but Old Hickory Tilapia were tastey.
