B.S. From Lebanon Democrate <'TK><
From Rick Duty ....
Check this out: http://www.lebanondemocrat.com/article/sports/290566 Doug, in the capacity of officially representing the TWRA, has already jumped Mr. Woody. Doug says, Kenny Elliott, the angler who died last week, died in an inlet of Johnson Creek on Cheatham Lake, well above the dam. There’s other huge parts of the story that Woody leaves out, in what seem to me to be in support of what the Corps wanted to do. Doug says that Woody will print a retraction tomorrow, and hopefully correct some facts. What I would like for the Democrat’s readers to know is, with lightning speed, the Freedom to Fish Act was introduced in the Senate on May 16, unanimously passed, it passed by unanimous voice vote in the House on May 21, and was signed into law by the Prez on June 3rd. And – the Tennessee General Assemble passed Joint Resolution SJR 0114, condemning the Corp’s intended closures, with a unanimous vote in both houses. The Kentucky legislators did the same. Considering all that is dysfunctional in Congress today, the Corps’ intentions were so absolutely absurd, that it generated congressional unanimity like the attack on Pearl Harbor. (Actually, even that saw one dissenting vote.) I gave Doug some ammo, and told him I’d stay quiet and let the TWRA speak to the corrections. But I think somebody should get deep into Mr. Woody’s stuff, and from a private citizens point of view, tell him he’s WAY off in supporting the Corp’s safety notion. Just ask any senator or congressman from Tennessee or Kentucky. --R-- |
From Doug Markham ...<'TK><
Guys,
We got no help from the Lebanon Democrat as far as I know during out efforts to defeat the Corps. This morning Larry Woody has an article about the man drowning the other day BELOW THE DAM and the dangers of the fishing below them as the Corps warned us. Please let everyone you know understand that this is a bogus article. Kenny Elliott, the angler who died last week, died in an inlet of Johnson Creek on Cheatham Lake well above the dam. It also says that life jacket wear below dams is "seldom" enforced. I have no idea where he got that from. Sorry to see that Larry chose to take this path in the argument we fought so hard to win, especially since he chose not give the issue much coverage. I understand that eventually someone will die again below a dam, but there will be scores more who die d on the lake side, as we worked hard to prove, because some anglers and boaters refuse to put on a life jacket. Thanks, Doug M. |
Retraction from Woody ... <'TK><
From Doug Markham :
I spoke with Larry Woody at the Democrat. I do not think he wrote the article to purposely mislead anyone. I also have to say he did write more about the Corps issue this past year than I thought. So, I wasn't all correct either. Anyway, a correction is coming tomorrow. Doug |
TK,
The Corps jumped all over this and posted this on all of their Facebook pages....damage already done. I am sure they won't post the retraction. Roy |
Here is a link to the article:
http://www.lebanondemocrat.com/artic...66#comment-621 I posted a comment. Hammy edit: didnt realize the link was already posted. |
Woody has changed the story. He could earn a spot on the Obama team. Only report what will stir excitement. Then blame others when challenged.
