Trolling motor batteries
 

So I just got two more trolling motor batteries. Had since April 2007 when I got my boat. They are Deka marine they are not the gel kind but man six and half years is a good enough reason to buy the same brand again. I did my best to take care of them check the water, clean corrosion and keep a good charge. Have you guys had good luck with trolling batteries that you use? Next up change lower unit oil and impeller.

Nope and yes.

My trolling motor batteries (Everstart) seem to both get replaced every 3-4 years with light use but my main crank battery is a 2007 and still holding a good strong charge. :confused:

Where did you get those? Price?

I am looking again for a couple trolling batteries.

Deka in Madison off myatt drive. 115.00 a piece and I did give them my old batteries I think it was 12.00 off for that. They have a warehouse full of batteries.

You have to keep the water level up or they will burn up..... Don't ask me how I know.....................

Nothing wrong with Walmart batteries you must keep the water in them and they will last.

My Wallyworld Group 29's are 5 Y/o and still going strong. Hard to beat for the price and I have never come close to running one down after all day non-stop crankbait trolling on a MK45

Deka Marine Master. Nothing else to say here.

The Batteries at O'Reilley Automotive are made by the same company that makes the Deka brand. They are even supplied in the same sizes. A couple of years ago, I had to replace the four batteries in my boat, all were large. I first priced them at the boat dealer, but they were much cheaper at O'Reilly Automotive than the boat dealer. Have been using them for two years with problems.

Here's a ? I have that is kind of on topic.

If my system is a 12/24 with a control box on the front where it can be switched to 12 or 24 can I just get one right now and use it as a 12 vlt system until the other can be bought?

Travis I have a 12/24 Motor Guide(old), I only have room for one battery so I just flip the switch to 12. Depending on how long you wait to get the 2nd one, you are going to be wearing down the 1st one. Don't know if it will make a big difference.

Ideally one would be fine for me since that boat will split time with a smaller river boat and kayak now. Just wondered if it would affect it much. Put my two bank on it and the crank instead of just trolling batteries.
