The eats, a little tougher now even though we caught them great. Only can keep 2 per day and they have to be between just over 13" to just over 17" or 1 of them can be over 27.5". We caught plenty of legal fish though, great eating, especially the cheek meat.

My dad and myself, he turned 80 July 1 and he still will only stay in a tent. He said it was his best trip ever. We had many doubles and several triples.

Walleye, we caught all of them casting, we do not troll and did not need to.

kind of neat, my dad stayed in this cabin in 1970, only time he ever has in all his years of going there. Always tent camped ever since. Jo Becker was even still there (Cascade Camp) and said she remembered Dad. It is a rustic place but reasonably priced. I would stay with Tom Pearson at Camp Narrows lodge if I stayed somewhere. If you decide to go, get good maps and use them. Really big lake, over 1500 islands (if you do not pay attention you can get lost in a hurry, we led a couple to their camp one night right before dark and they were about 7 miles from it) and there are many, many dangerous HUGE rocks in the middle of the lake. My favorite place to fish on this planet.

Warmest I have ever seen in the first week of July. We had basically zero bug issues. The bass were just going on bed so the fish were on the feed for sure.

Where the heck were you guys fishing??? Headhunter thats the prettiest SM I have ever seen, almost black. What kind of water temps were you fishing?

Man that's some nice scenery and it looks like the fishing is great up there. So you towed your own boat up there?

Water was warm considering lake was frozen until about May 11. Mid 70's surface temp. We have canoed all over that area and pulled a boat many times. Many of them in the water had black tipped fins all around, beautiful fish for sure. We have always caught more smallmouth than many will believe. Like I said, my favorite fishing place on this planet by far. About 2400 miles round trip and if family and job allowed it, I would leave at this minute and go back.

Thanks for sharing! I went to Quetico about 20 years ago. Zupp's picked us up at the dock and transported us to our drop off spot. Been so many years ago I can't remember the details but I think we went through Rainey Lake.
