Trout in the stones

Is there a slot size or minimum size for rainbow trout on the stones river? Also what is the bag limit?

No size limit....you can keep seven. But you should check the reg for yourself on the TWRA web site....just to be sure.

i fish the stones a bunch and every once in a while i will accidentally catch a trout. i know they are stocked every year but always wonder if any that aren't caught would be able to survive through the summer. i would keep them when i do but do not currently have my trout license or whatever you have to have.

I don't think the trout survive long in the Stones below Percy. It gets really shallow and warm.

Cool. Right at the damn or down river? Bank or boat?

Looking to try my kayak at the ramp by the mouth to the Cumberland and see how far up you can paddle on low water.

If you have the time and energy you will be able to paddle to the dam. There will be enough water.

The Stones is always navigable by paddle, even during low water, or I've never seen it too low to paddle. I've paddled/floated from Priest Dam to EN Peeler several times, and it's about a day’s trip if you’re fishing. I've paddled from the new ramp at Khols on Hwy70/Lebanon Pike before it was a ramp to the dam and floated back, that can be a fun stretch, and the paddle up and float back doesn’t take long. I've also just floated from the Priest Dam to Khols when the flow was to strong to paddle up.

Kayaking Stones

Those are some trips I want to try being a Noob. Our first attempt, I didn't check water levels and we put in at the dam on low water, and didn't make it very far before we were scraping in a 2-man.

Thanks for sharing.

Billy

Can you not make it from dam to Kohls on low water? I was getting ready to make that trip in my canoe next week and was wondering. Do you drag or have to get out and portage?
