Cumberland sauger
Hit the river today and it was COLD! Freakin wind chill liked to froze my fingers. The current was strong and the wind was stronger. I had to put my 101 lb thrust trolling motor on three (1-10) to keep up with the river going DOWNSTREAM! If I shut the trolling motor off, the wind would blow me upstream, and this is in a heavy fiberglass bass boat.
http://s1273.beta.photobucket.com/us...on_Jr/library/The fish were a bit cooperative but boat control was a royal pain with the wind going one way and the current going the other. I caught 10 fish but only three keepers. 15, 16, and one 19 inch fattie that weighed three lbs. http://s1273.beta.photobucket.com/us...on_Jr/library/ |
Fattie for sure, nice job

Man that thing sure is fat, I bet it's full of shad! The cold and wind was no joke today, I fished for a bit and kept having ice accumulate on the rodtip eventually not allowing me to reel past the leader knot! I had to clear it off and 20 minutes later, same issue.

what part of the cumberland?
I live near Carthage. Were you fishing for them up this way?

Great looking fish!

Nice fish and good deal on getting out in this weather. I don't even like going out for smoke breaks :)

Nice fish! Once the sauger bit picks up I'm heading out.

Nice fish for sure.

Went again today, got a late start, 9:00. First time I dropped the jig, caught a 14 1/2 incher. Fished about 4 hours, caught 7 saugers, only two keepers, 16 and 17 inches. Gave them away to a fella I chatted with on the water. Nice day to be out there.
