Raw,wet day. Caught two small fish all day until 1430 and got the big bite. Caught three more small fish and quit at 1600. Slow day but the big fish made it worthwhile. Several eagles around and no one else fishing. Lovely day.http://fishingtn.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Whoa....I don't know a lot about trout or trout fishing but that is one nice fish, old sailor! And my hat is off to you for being out in this weather!

old sailor 01-16-2013 08:31 PM

Thanks

Thanks nomad. appreciate it.

Wow I had no idea there was anywhere in this state with trout that size. Guess that's what happens when you live your 51 years in west Tn.

You are 1 tuff son of a gun being out there today. Good job as always. Looks like those spring lizards are really producing for you.

Mnfishingbum 01-16-2013 09:19 PM

I would be scared to swim with monsters like that swimming

TroutFiend 01-16-2013 09:24 PM

That is a dandy for sure Old Sailor. My boys flip rocks out back all the time and catch those lizards. Do you Carolina rig in that heavy current?

Alphahawk 01-16-2013 09:37 PM

Great catch! Thought you would be out today.

Regards

Nice fish!! Those lizards are working out well for you! I was planning to go tonight and fish the generation from the steps but the weather is supposed to change from rain to snow and being up in the higher elevation I didn't think driving at night was a good idea so I stayed in. I'm back in Cookeville now and the first chance I get I'll be back out there chasing my 24+" brown.

I doubt you'd be swimming in the Caney Fork even if there were no fish in it. It's a little chilly haha. Oh and I think the 50lb stripers would be scarier than even the biggest trout in there!

Nice fish old sailor. Being out there looks like it paid off for you.

Just noticed that you are right down the road from me. We will have to fish together one of these days.
