Cumberland bank

I finally shook off the dry spell yesterday! Landed this lucky fellow along with a couple tiny stripers. I was hoping for some better water coming out of OHL dam but I take what can get! Three fish in 2.5hrs from the bank near Stones. The good weather and awesome views made the time pass quick. Not one boat went by.

That's a nice bass!
Define "tiny stripers" :) |
When you say "tiny" stripers... do you mean white bass? I made that mistake a couple springs ago when I was wading in the Calfkiller and got into a school of them. I caught 17 or so of what I thought were "tiny" stripers that I had to release not knowing they were white bass and I could have kept 15 of them. Good eating!
That's a nice sized bass by the way, nice work! |

That looks more like a hybrid to me. A white bass center black line would extend back into the tail.
|
Definitely not a striper, I'm going with white bass even though we can't see that center line going to the tail. That just may not be noticable in the pic. Hybrids have much bolder stripes.
Gotta be careful down there though. I caught some large, fat white bass at "the steps" a couple weeks ago that I had to check to make sure they weren't hybrids because they were bigger than the white bass I normally catch. One was 14", one was 13.5" and both were FAT. |
Nice fish!
