Without me sounding too silly.
Can someone tell me where to tie the line to a chatter bait?Do I tie to the bait it's self or to the clip on the chatter thing?

kit

I bought a kit sometime ago. I was going to make some bass jigs and add the blade. well, I never did. Last year I added one to a heavy sauger jig and added a chartreuse prism tape to it. It did catch fish when nothing else would. I would drop the jig to the bottom and pull quickly up on the rod. The vibration was wild. I need to make some more.

Chatterbaits.... never used them but I will let you in a little money savings.

I buy the replacement skirts all the time for my jigs and spinnerbaits.

Strike King Perfect Skirt w/Tails $3.29 for 2 pk

Chatterbait EZ Replacement Skirts $2.69 for 3pk

Once on the jig head or spinnerbait there's not much difference other than the tails (which I put a trailer on both anywhay so they'd be cut off).

FYI on skirts

I use to make a ton of flipping jigs and spinnerbaits years ago. Just for myself I made around 25 to 50 dozen a year. I worked with living rubber and silicone skirts. Here is a link to to a tackle dealer. If you use a bunch it will be cheaper to buy in bulk. I had a place in California I bought from But I can't remember the name of the company. I had a lot of productive patterns that you just couldn't buy prepackaged. Here is the link. I sure hope I am not breaking some guidelines by posting this.

living rubber dot com is another place to get skirt material

At times a grub, fluke, or small swimbait works better than silicon skirt, more so on the chatterbait than a traditional jig/spinnerbait/buzzbait but it works on all them.
