Fishing Spots
 

Hey guys, I'm truly at a loss. I'm from upper East TN, and as such I'm used to having fishable water within throwing distance. I lived 2 min from the south fork of the Holsten, several other accesible rivers and about 5 min from any where on Reedy Creek. Near enough to Patrick Henry, Boone, Cherokee, and Watauga. But when I came to Tennessee Tech for college I cant seem to find any place similar to my house. Does anyone have any good creek, stream or river spots?

There are plenty of streams, just get out a topo map and head north for smallmouth. Head south for Muskie. Plus you have Center Hill and Dale Hollow close by with tailwater trout below both. Even closer is Old City and Cane Creek lakes.

The closest thing you will find I think will be the Caney Fork River that will come close.

I go to Tn Tech as well and although Engineering consumes most of my time, I do find time here and there to fish and I know of some good spots. Don't bother at City Lake. Cane Creek Park is very close to Tech and I've had some fun bank fishing there. I hear there are really large bass in there like 7 and 8 pounds, I've never seen nor caught one that big, all 1 and 2 pounders but they are plentiful.

The Caney Fork is a great trout fishery and you can also catch stripers, bass, white bass, walleye in there. I've also fished from the bank at Center Hill during the spring when the water is low and had some luck with smallies and spots. Do you have a boat or will you be bank fishing?

South of Cookeville in Sparta is the Calfkiller river and it is loaded with smallmouth. Most of it is wadeable.
