Well we did go out in the cold yesterday. We started fishing around 4. We fished up around the dam until dark and then floated to Happy Hollow. We caught several bluegill, crappie, and stocker trout up around the waterfalls and boat accesses. They were tearing up the trout magnets. We did manage a few FAT rainbows and a few brooks in the 12-13 inch range and I lost a brook that would have pushed 14-15" and it had those magnificent fall colors! I was a bit bummed about that. Wow, I am happy to have now experienced the colors those trout get this time of year! Truly a piece of Gods artwork! I attached a pic of a 12 inch brook that even had a bit of a lower jaw developing, and the colors were incredible! I apologize how I was holding the brook, but i couldn't keep it still!

Well when dark came upon us, the wind picked up to a steady hard wind and it was blowing us back up stream! Let me tell you that a half hour into our float, I knew it was going to take about 2 hours longer than we planned! When we would stop paddling, the wind would stop us and start taking us against the current! No drifting with the current last night. But we were protected by the bluffs in a few areas, luckily in some areas that were holding fish. We had 7 hits and boated 2. I was lucky enough to get my personal best brown! 23 1/2 inches and couldn't have been fatter or it would have burst! I am guessing that fish was close to 6 pounds and it was so beautifully golden! The other was one was a 21 incher, but not near as fat. As soon as we could get out of the wind and fish how we wanted, we were getting blowups, but when the wind was blowing, nothing. I think it could have been a VERY good night if it was calm. But still had a blast anyways and sure glad we were bundled up! Looking forward to doing it again! I am getting hooked on these browns! that big one jumped completely out of the water 4 times during the fight!

WOW! What a fattie!!

And that fish is pretty big, too!

That's great, nice pics. I was curious to see how you came out. Those trout magnets sure earn there keep. I was looking at there website and seen some new colors I think I need to get. I have the small starter pack now.

Great looking fish! Glad you had a good day. Why is it the wind never blows the direction needed to help one out on a fishing trip?....LOL.

Regards

Nice catch!! I love them trout colors.

Those are some beauties! My biggest brown is 22" and that was in the summer of 2011...I'm ready to catch another 20+ incher and I know this is a good time of the year to target trophy browns. What did you catch those browns on? I'm glad the trip was worth it. I'll fish all day in 100 degrees when many people won't but on the other hand many people like you will fish at night when it's really cold and windy. Me, forget it. I don't care if you guarantee 20lb stripers every cast, I'm staying inside haha. I guess I'll have to suck it up though if I want to get into walleye fishing this year!

If you will not put up with the cold of the fall and winter, you will not catch big fish! HAHA! I got them on topwater stick baits.

Awesome fish, sounds like a nice float besides the wind.

Nice fish!

I'm not much into fishing in the cold either but I guess I better learn, and maybe hop on down to Bass Pro and get me one of those Pro Qualifier tops and bottoms. A friend of mine has that outfit and claims the cold doesn't bother him a bit while wearing that.
