Stripe at night in Old Hickory
Anyone catching any stripe at night in Old Hickory? I been a couple of times and only catching small stripe and not many of them. I went Friday night, we were at the mouth of Station Camp Creek (used to be a great night time stripe spot) had some small stripe, one keeper stripe, a keeper crappie and a keeper sauger. Not many minnows coming to our lights and the ones we have are on the small side.
Anyone doing any good? |
pm-sent.

Found the Stripe!!
Fished July 3rd. Got to see a fireworks show from the water and brought home 28 stripe and two crappie. Caught lots of fish. After all the boats left the area, around 11:00 pm until 2:00 am we caught a lot of fish. Same place as four days early but the results were extremely better!!!
Ready to do it again. |
I have been trying myself for the past month to find some. Just started fishing at night, but have been quiting around 10 or 11. Next time (maybe this weekend) I will put in around 11 and fish till I sleep :). Great job on the catch!! Were you using a light?
|
I was using 3 submersible lights. One was green and the other two were white lights. I was in a 17 foot boat. I hang one white light of either end of the boat and the green light I hang off the middle of the boat. I was using meduim sized tuffys for bait.
You need to expect to have your lights in the water for an hour at least before you really start catching many fish. |
Thanks for the help, I'm learning as I go and this helps alot. I haven't seen any submersable lights, you make them?

Does anyone every use the floating lights anymore? Also do you suggest any certain brand/style light?
I have wanted to try that for some time especially since most my fishing is on Old Hick at night. |

How about this one above? Would it work? I like the idea it won't be attached to my batteries. If so I will pick one up next time over there to put in the boat. |
I'm not saying it won't work but you would probably be wasting your time with something that small. Hey wait a minute..... That's What She said...... :( Lmao .
Seriously though the best results will come from the larger ,brighter lights!! |

Floating lights do work but they attract way to many bugs. We use the submersible clear lights on Priest. We drop both down about 15ft for 30 mins or so, then bring them both up to around 3 or 4 ft. I cant remember the brand name we use but I have found them at Walmart and BPS. They have a black housing with clear plastic around the bulb if that helps any.

One word of warning on the clear lights, DO NOT have them connected to the battery and out of the water. These lights get extremely hot fast and the glass will shatter. The green lights are cool to the touch.
