Went to VFW today with the intent of learning how to adjust drift of kayak in a strong wind and too get in some fishing. Learned if I want to stop need more than a 6 pound chain. But also learned how to keep the kayak down wind to be able to cast where I wanted to. Found the Bluegill....they had all moved to 6 to 8 feet of water. Spent about 4 hours there and caught a fish almost on every cast after I found the right depth. Most of the fish were in the half pound range around 8 inches....nice broad shoulders on them. Most fish were caught on Bison colored Trout Magnet using twitching method.....caught about 30 under the float on a 9 foot light action rod.

Nice job. Those gills are sure colored up good.
I found some nice ones in a pocket off the main body of Old Hickory today in probably that depth. They were pale to white as a ghost and all caught on a black/chart crappie magnet under a float. The lake sure was choppy but that helps the magnet under a float. |

Funny story on how I found these. My lil one was beating my baitcaster up and down on the bank pretending to fish. At first it was cute as she was saying daddy watch, daddy watch. But then I figured I'd swap to lessen the chance of having to replace it. So, I cast the magnet out into the middle of the pocket, handed it to her then proceeded to hide the other up on the bank. When I return her little 22 month old self is holding a bent over spinning rod waiving it up and down still saying daddy watch not knowing she actually has a fish on. LOL... :D
