Guess I have gotten so use to judging shadows and casting to them the other feels un-natural. |

Maybe we can get together on your summer break since you teach.
I have a busy couple months coming unless you want to meet up one night I get out. Gotta do new floors in the house, family vacation to florida and a little trip to the doc that will sideline me for a couple weeks all before summer. |

I'm looking to get out this week if the wind settles down. Any feel for the movement of the fish yet? I'm thinking on a warmer day I might look shallow, but just not confident the water is warm enough yet.

I dont know where the fish are right now. I kept hearing reports of fish being caught up shallow over the weekend (and big ones too). I talked to a guy out there today that caught a 7lbs and 5lbs on Saturday. However, he hadn't caught anything at all today by the time I had talked to him (around noon). I managed to catch 2 keepers and 1 short largemouth all day. They weren't up shallow either but were close to the bank on deeper banks. I'm not sure what the pattern is turning into. Since TNJugger has been on the water, the temperature in Spence has dropped to 51 and the lake level has dropped 2ft. This could cause a lot of problems for the shallow bite. Jugger, did you catch that pig up shallow getting ready to spawn? All my fish had eggs in them today.

Rockland guage was 52 today.
Usually when it is like that down there you can find some water mid lake or further up in the creeks 56, 57 or so at some point on warm days like today. I would be kinda shocked if all are up and locked on right now. My guess would be to look around those depth drops around spawning flats and pockets right now especially work the drops with additional cover on them. They are probably moving in during warm of the day then dropping back off until night water temps get a little more comfortable. You should definitely check some spawning areas though because a lot of times the bigger fish will spawn in water a little less than the "ideal" temperatures. |

Fish are moving I found them shallow in a big cove out of the wind on Saturday mid-day caught 4 and missed twice that many fishing little grubtail jigs at a fast retrieve other than that it was a slow day no crappie 10 keeper bluegill and 1 yellow bass. But it was a great day to be on the water

Fishaholic, how far back were they? I caught a big one up shallow on the front end of a creek today in 53 degree water 1-2 ft deep
