Nice job man, we were up there a couple weeks ago camping. Are they dropping the lake to winter pool already?

Are the fish starting to come up a little in the water column from summer yet?

Nice fish...if I had a boat that is where I would be.

Great post as usual,I always look forward to seeing them. Thanks

thanks Guys... they are actually moving deeper. The o2 levels below the thermocline have been way lower than average. That with an unusually high cline thru out the summer has kept fish much higher in the collumn. The corps. usually starts to slowly drop the lake in June on thru the summer. This year they kept the lake in the trees until the 2nd week in august and then pulled like crazy 24 hours a day for three weeks... That caused a walleye kill and turned the trout off. Conditions are better now.

What speed(s) are you trolling? I can troll in my kayak and have good electronics, along with trolling gear.

We had a good trip there last Friday We did well with 15 brown fish and a big rainbow. I didn't see you but we spent much of the day a mile or two above horse creek. I'll try to post some pics but I didn't take them, and need to get permission to post em from the friends I was fishing with anyway. I wish I could spend a week or two up there right now.

Tx, i've thought about putting down riggers on my canoe many a time for stealth action.... Right now it's 1.5 to 2 mph. Cornbread, sounds like a good trip. How big did the bow go?

For sure after a year of paying dues I have finally caught a few good fish the last few trips. Your posts are a tremendous help,I genuinely appreciate them. Our guess was 5-7 lbs. Don't know for sure we left the boga. We were gonna grill him whole but he wouldn't fit, the grill is 24 " long and he beat that by a head + an inch or two. we were so excited about dinner we didn't give it much thought. I'm attaching a small bad pick from a wet Black berry. Ill try to get better camera for next trip.

Nice trout for sure. Does your buddy run a planer board mast out of a v- hull?

Cornbread 10-16-2011 08:42 PM

No we were fishing from my boat, 21' center console White, 2 Down riggers and an assortment of jet divers, all the fish we have Caught at dale this year and last have been on spoons if we were trolling. 90 % of our fish came on bait. We usually troll through the lull that we always have in the middle of the day.

fishfindergeneral 10-18-2011 11:42 PM

Good Deal. Live bait can be really productive year round. I'll look for you on the water and holler at me before your next trip if you want a report...

fishfindergeneral 10-18-2011 11:43 PM

TX, were you out there Sunday?

txnative 10-19-2011 06:38 AM

No, I stayed close to home and chased white bass on old hickory instead. I may try this weekend, depending on a number of factors. If I go, I may have a few questions for you, but they'll be pm'ed.

I saw a kayak out there by Cedar Hill on my Sunday charter.... thought maybe it was you. They were struggling with the wind...
