Darn catfish

Went to Drakes Creek looking for stripers and hybrids Tuesday afternoon.
Wanted to jig a blade bait like a silver buddy or a jigging rap and see if I could catch white bass, yellow bass, crappie etc.
I'd find a group of fish near the bottom and watch my bait on the Livescope. In 10 minutes I caught two blue cats, one was 1 pound, the other about 2 lbs. I believe if I went back there with catfish bait I could have caught fish all afternoon. But, catfish wasn't on the menu for the day.
Lot of bait in Drakes but I couldn't find whites, stripers, or hybrids.
Trolled my Arigs for a couple hours with NO hits at all, finally called it quits around 4.
I found catfish everywhere in Drakes so if anyone likes catfish, I'd imagine some cut bait would catch a boatfull.

Unless things have changed in the past decade (Before I retired from Guiding); Old Hickory has never been stocked with Hybrids ... But with this said a number of Hybrids have filtered through OH dam via the locks from Cheatham Lake which is stocked with Hybrids... I have noticed the Hybrid population has increased on OHL over the years ...... TK:)

We caught a 10 pound hybrid back in August up near Bledsoe

Adrian has posted pictures of hybrids he and his wife have caught on OH lake.

I have also caught them below Old Hickory dam so you know some have made it into the locks and gone upstream.

Hybrids have been below Priest for MANY years so there is not doubt they are below Old Hickory and in Old Hickory.

State record came from below Priest dam in 1998.

The lake that runs through Nashville past Stones River (J Percy Priest) all the way to Old Hickory Dam is Cheatham Lake ... They have always been stocked there.... Old Hickory Lake runs from Old Hickory Dam (Hendersonville) to Cordell Hull Dam in Carthage .... TK:)

"Cheatham Lake is an impoundment of the Cumberland River with 320 miles of shoreline. ... Cheatham Lake is 67.5 miles long and extends all the way from Cheatham Dam through Nashville to Old Hickory Dam. In its upper reaches, the lake generally consists of a deepened river channel and is often referred to as a river."
