Fishing info on Duck River near Columbia??

Relatively new to area and wondering if there are any areas of the Duck River around Columbia or nearby where one can fish for LM or SM bass from a jon boat with an electric motor only. Due to my age, ease of launching and landing are an issue, hence the jon boat. Would appreciate your advice.

I've put in at Fred White Rd. before and fished upstream from there all the way to 65.

You need to be careful with an electric only motor. You won't want to be downstream from your landing point. The Duck can be pretty strong in places. If you hug shore you can usually make decent headway.

I've caught lots of smallish bass just casting crankbaits... lots of fun on light tackle.

We always use to launch at iron bridge. That was a few years ago..

Locals don't talk high of Columbia but Centerville folks say a lot.
It has Shoals and bars here and there but that's river fishing
They love the river in Hickman County. And it is the wallet of the City.

Hillbilly,
I fished the Duck for may a year and caught my share of fish. Put in above the dam in the center of Columbia just shy of Franks Bait Shop if it is still there and venture up river as far as you care and float downstream and you should have all the fish you need. Invest in a small outboard and your golden.

If you've never fished the Duck before you're in for a treat. It's a very scenic and peaceful place (unless it's rained a lot). That stretch of river upstream from Fred White past I 65 bridge is one of the most beautiful.

You're welcome. Another beautiful thing about the Duck is that the fish are absolutely clueless. There's zero fishing pressure and fish seem to bite on anything at any time of day... Kind of like a trip back to the old days.. I get tired of trying to match wits with educated fish on local lakes.... They always seem to win...

Can you tell me more about the area upstream? Plus, I'm concerned about what you say about strong current. An electric motor is all I'm going to have. Think it advisable to not try to fish upstream?

Hi Deezelteck,
Would you mind sharing a little more about the Iron Bridge area? Would I be able to go upstream with an electric motor and fish my way back down? How far upstream would you advise (I rarely fish over 3-4 hours) and would I be able to navigate it under normal circumstances in a jon with an electric? Anything else appreciated.
Thanks a million for the advice,
Hillbilly

It has been many years since I visited this ramp. We would use Texas rigs and cranks to catch largemouth and panfish. I was a passenger in a friend's pontoon.
