Lowrance settings for side imaging

I need some help. I have gotten a new HDS-9 gen 3. The side imaging is good but I feel like it could be better. Can someone give me the settings you are using to get a clean picture?

455 or 800?
Contrast setting
noise reduction
etc...

I want to try someone else's setting to help me determine if maybe I don't have my transducer mounted exactly like it should be.

Thanks.

I am not familiar with Lowrance settings but can tell you that for si and di you may have to make small adjustments every time you put the boat in the water...or another body of water....to get an optimal image. The water for a particular day may be fine for a certain set of settings but those can change from day to day and on another body of water. If you get the settings really jacked up just go back to the default and you will have usable settings no matter the conditions.

I agree with The water for a particular day may be fine for a certain set of settings but those can change from day to day and on another body of water.

I've also read, and tried it with good results is too limit the distance to the sides you are viewing, such as 80-100 feet, depending on your style of fishing. This will put more detail into what is shown on the screen.

Same answers, time on the water pushing buttons and trying different settings will determine what works for you. My settings are different that anyone else's due to how my boat is set up and location of transducers, and my personal preferences.

One pretty good trick is to have your side scan set to scan 3x whatever depth your fishing. For example if your fishing in 15 fow then have the setting to scan out 45 feet on both sides. Hope this helps. It will definitely give you more detail.
