JPP Windy Wednesday
3 Attachment(s)
Launched at 10:30 and left at 3:50. I stayed below the bridge all day and basically only hit two areas. Warmest water I found was 57. Caught Largemouth and one Smallie on ShadRaps, Tubes, and Jerkbaits. All fish were in 2-5 FOW with exception of the Smallmouth. She was hanging in 8FOW just where it dropped from 6ft. I do have to admit she was my first ever fish on the A-rig. I was using a Jr Flash Mob that had willow blades and five wires. I snipped two of the wires off at the head to stay legal. The head weight is 1/4 oz and I used 1/16 oz heads on smoke colored 3" "Mister Twister" style grubs with silver flakes. It really looks good in the water. The ShadRap was a golden crawfish pattern with a red bill. Always a killer this time of year in Hamilton creek. (Did I say that out loud?) The tube was rigged with a Z-man 1/4 oz weighted tube hook that goes up from the bottom to the head and you poke the eye through. This was also exposed hook. I did hang up a few times but it was worth it. I would throw right at the bank and immediately start a steady retrieve just fast enough to let it tick the tops of the rocks. At the same time doing and erratic twitch of the rod, nothing crazy, just looking injured or scared. The tube was a pumpkin green with orange red and gold flake. Finally the jerkbait was my go to KVD sexy shad chartreuse. I threw a darker color for a while but that wasn't working and I switched back to ole reliable and it was the right one. They didn't want it real fast nor did they want it too slow. Two spots fished and caught 25 good quality JPP fish.
Here's a pic of the SM and one LM all fish were similar in size.
The other pic is something I wanted to share. I don't crappie fish but my friend came up on this guy floating and scooped him up. Got the snack out of his mouth but he couldn't be revived.
Great day of fishing but definitely not getting Employee of the month this month...
Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading.
