OH Crappie 3/15/15 & 3/16/16

3/15: Fished the lower end from 730-1200. Caught 7 keepers and a few small ones on minnows and grubs. All were between 12"-14" except one 11". My 5 year old niece caught a 5 lb catfish which was fun and hilarious to watch.

Caught one keeper in the first 10 minutes and then none till 1030 when we got a triple. Then only single the last 1.5 hours. Tried different depths from 20-35 feet. All were caught in 25-27 fow.

Last year at this time we were catching mostly females and the lake was loaded with baitfish. The last month I'm catching about 50/50 males to females.

Water temp was 45 when we started and 51 when we left.

3/16: Fished Drake's creek from 400-630 pm. Caught 6 keepers and 2 small ones on minnows and grubs in 26-34 fow. All keepers were caught the last hour and a half.

Drake's Creek was loaded with bait and the water temp was 57. All the keepers except one were big and heavy. Caught a 15", 14", 2 at 13", 12", and a 11".

Water is still nasty with lots of junk and logs in the water.

It's crazy how deep you are catching them. I caught good crappie in 1-3' of water yesterday on priest. Nice job!

I think JPP warms quicker than Old Hickory. The water on the lower end of OH is still cool. The water was below 60 midway through April last year and I was still catching them deep.
