Cheatham Lake/Cumberland Crappie?
Putting a boat in soon up near Ashland City and was wondering if anyone had any tips for finding crappie in that area. I'm used to more of large reservoir crappie fishing, but have never focused on rivers. What might be some patterns or tactics to look for, especially during the spawn?

Similar tactics as a large reservoir. Fish any coves or feeder creeks that have laydowns or brush. Shouldn't be hard to find because rivers are usually full of both.

Johnsons Creek down by the dam. Or run down to the Mouth of the Harpeth. Sycamore Creek, Brush Creek try em all.

Don't overlook large rip rap on the river. This time of year black crappie could be holding tight to big rock.

Alpha-would that rip rap fishing be a pre-spawn tactic? I bet drifting TM's or minnows at various depths would work. I'll keep post a follow-up report on results

I have never really tried Rip rap for crappie but everything I read says black crappie like it. I know you like to fish rip rap alpha, I never catch anything on it, bass or crappie.
