Cumberland River Striper hunt

Went out over the weekend to see if I could find some striper. Put in at Hunters Point ramp with the water temp 62° and the water a little stained. Most of the coves have nice size shad in them, started throwing my cast net and had bait quickly. Started working a mile or two in both directions trolling planer boards and balloon rigs. In certain areas the debris would interfere with fishing. I mostly worked bluff walls, I only hooked one 5lb Striper and the board was right next to the wall. After a while I cruised around looking at my electronics and dropping a few Shad when I saw activity, but no takers. I only seen about 4 boats the entire time I was out there. I fished a lot of new areas which I alway like doing. Happy fishing and be save as the water gets colder.

Great report.
I really don't target Stripes but they are awesome game.

Most bays and coves in our area are loaded with bait balls.

I actually saw 4 in the back of a cove in less than 5’ fow acting like dolphins in the shad. I say it was striper, not 100% sure but they were too big to be bass. This was early Sunday morning. It was an amazing site and at first didn’t believe what I saw.
