NEW Carpet for bass boat
 

I am looking for someone to re-carpet my 98 Ranger. its a 18.5 ft bass boat. Not exactly something you cant find in the yellow pages.

It is not difficult, do it yourself. I just removed all of mine in 273 Stratos and put new in. Bought a precut kit (still have to trim to fit) and put in the new carpet. It is a bit of work but well worth it.

If you have some e do it, it will probably cost near $1000. Depends on how many compartments you have.

This is a very time consuming, labor intensive, requires a good amount of clamps to hold carpet in place while the glue sets up, especially on the compartment doors.

Labor intensive..? Ok the man will sweat a little, but he could save himself a few dollars if he were to do some of the prep work.



I understand not everyone is handy. And not everyone knows how to lay carpet. But its not a impossible job either. The trick with with gluing anything down is patients. Once prep'd you only do a section at a time, you glue both surfaces and allow the glue to become very tacky and then put it in place. So no its not a impossible job, but then sometimes its worth letting someone else seat and get aggravated too. ;)


This isn't a boat deck but its some of my work redoing the headliner of my semi truck sleeper. The principle is the same though

It is a good bit of work but not hard at all. I did not put glue on the carpet, only where I put the carpet. The front deck and the floor are a little tough, but measure SEVERAL times, then trim, slowly and then glue and put carpet down. Well worth the work and I would guess to have someone do it will for sure be over a $1000 more like 13 or 1400 dollars for that size boat.

Headhunter is right. Someone who does a quality job will charge at least $1000.

Gordie Miller removes all the old carpet AND old glue.
He glues every square inch of carpet and uses about a million clamps/ boards.
Very meticulous in his work.
You'll want to get your boat in to whoever does it while in the dead of winter.
Once the boating season nears, boat shops are too busy to do a carpet job.
Hourly pay only works out to be about $15.00 per hour so they'll do it in the winter when they don't have boat repairs, winterization, readying boats for spring type work to do. Busy work to bring in some income.
Once March comes, forget it.
