river jiggers-new jig coming this winter

Hey guys, just figured i would let you fellow sauger jiggers know that in January, Northland Tackle is going to be releasing thier Stinger Series of jigheads in 1oz sizes.
This is HUGE as i cannot find anything like these in heavy weights. They have always made them up to 1/2oz but thats nothing in heavy current.
Its the short shank hook with stinger hook eyelet on the back/bottom.
If you fish saugers, this jig is gonna be a game changer to put those short strikers in your boat.

Those maybe what the doctor ordered. May give them a try. Haven't sauger fished in a bout 5 yrs.

I usually get my sauger jigs when I'm down in the Pickwick area, big wedge head jigs (think they are 1 1/4oz) and re-tie the stinger hooks. I've found them at the local fishing "show" as well.

I agree on the wedge head. They cut the current the best. And yeah, i toss that stinger that come with them and re-tie my own.
When i get some of these new jigs, i will probably throw them in a vise and squeeze down thier profile to have flat sides.
