Called my friend Merv Sunday afternoon for some tips to catch white bass and hybrids.
He told me the coordinates, depth, and bait to use.
Knowing what a friend Merv is we immediately went elsewhere and caught a few.
Fished several spots with no luck.
Finally moved up lake and caught 5 or 6 white bass. They were holding at about 25' in 40' holes.
Moved to shallower water around 3 PM. I caught 5 white bass within 30 minutes. Vertical jigged Bass Pro Laser Blade in 19' water. Drop to bottom, lift and drop.
Wind was getting strong and cooler. Headed back to ramp. Birds were circling within 200 yards of ramp so we dropped line again.
Partner caught a 4-2 hybrid. I caught 1 drum and a very upset loon. Those loons give a trolling motor a run for the money.
Moderately high winds all day. Very warm and beautiful day for Feb. No records were broken, however, I am so thankful to have my good health and be able to enjoy days like this.
